Reward Strategy
How to design high-value member perks and point structures that grow your business.
Choosing your setup
Points vs member perks
There are two main ways to reward your customers: exclusive member deals and points-based rewards. Using a mix of both often works best, creating a balanced reward strategy your customers actually care about.
Customers earn 1 point for every €1 they spend. When they have enough points, they redeem them in the app for a reward you have set.
Building repeat visits. You set the reward, so you control what it costs you.
Points take time to build up. Give new members welcome points so they have something to claim on day one.
No points involved. Any registered member claims a set discount or special perk in-app whenever you have it live.
Giving members value straight away, and filling quiet hours.
Members claim these at the counter, which adds a step at busy times. Tie them to off-peak hours or a minimum spend.
The point rate
A 30-point reward means the customer has spent €30 with you before they claim it. Every reward in this catalogue uses this rate.

Reward strategies
Every business approaches loyalty differently. We've grouped rewards by specific goals to make starting more simple. The rewards used here don't cover every industry, but they’ll give you a clear idea of how to structure your own setup.
Rewards that turn an occasional visitor into a weekly or daily regular. Set how much customers need to spend, then reward them when they hit that amount.
Rewards that unlock at higher points milestones, encouraging customers to add extra items to their order to hit the point target.
Rewards locked to retail stock, classes or add-on services, pushing customers towards things they have never tried.
Welcome rewards a first-time visitor can claim the moment they join, getting them hooked on your app.
Goal one
Bring customers back more often
Turn casual visitors into daily or weekly regulars while rewarding the regulars you already have. Set a points milestone that unlocks a popular product or service, giving customers every reason to choose your business over the place next door.
Give away a low-cost, high-margin standard item once a customer hits a set spend.
Feels like a big reward to the customer, but costs you very little to give away.
A small, easy to fulfil reward set at about half the points of your main one.
Gives customers a win early on, so they stay motivated saving for the bigger reward.
A flat discount applied at the till every time a registered member visits.
Customers get value every visit.
Goal two
Increase spend per visit
Build higher order totals over time. Customers collect points across visits to unlock bigger rewards, giving them a reason to add an extra item each time they drop in.
A voucher that only works if the customer spends over a certain amount in one go.
The customer has to add an extra item to reach the total, so the sale is bigger than the discount you gave, protecting your margins.
Offer a product from your pricier stock that they would not normally buy for themselves.
Gets customers to try stock they have never bought. Once they know what it is like, they are far more likely to buy it themselves next time.
A discount that only applies when a member spends over a set amount.
Members spend a few extra euros to trigger the saving.
Goal three
Move customers into other services and products
Rewards that move routine customers into retail items, events or secondary services.
A discount locked to retail stock, workshops or higher-priced services only.
Everyday coffee or service spend earns them money off the higher-priced things they walk past every week.
A quick extra service added to a booking the customer has already made.
They try a new service they have never booked, fitting inside a paid appointment slot you have already filled.
Lower prices on retail and events, for members only.
Moves slow stock and fills empty event seats using the customers you already have.
Goal four
Attract and onboard new customers
Convert first-time visitors into registered members on the spot. Welcome points are granted the moment someone signs up, so there is something to claim before they leave the counter.
Give welcome points at sign-up, so they can claim something small in the app immediately.
They get something on the spot, and they learn how to claim a reward in the app straight away.
Welcome points redeemed for a discount on their very first purchase.
Customers get immediate savings on today's purchase, removing any hesitation to sign up before paying.
A discount that stays active for their first month as a member.
Gives them a reason to come back several times in their first month, which is when the habit forms.
